Blank Canvas Panic – Adding Personality to a New Construction Home
When homeowners see a big, empty, white apartment, they panic. But the interior designer gets excited…I guess that’s why we have jobs. And the Boston interior designer gets even more excited – it’s always fun to take this party down to New York City. Say hello to our latest project—a brand-new construction apartment (building) on the Upper East Side. Killer views, chic finishes, and soon to be filled with a cool mix of furniture and decor—some new, some vintage, all awesome. We are cooking up luxury interior design and we promise that this Lenox Hill design will be amazing. We have custom furniture, custom upholstery… and don’t forget the art! Colorful, contemporary, and fun. Right now, it’s literally just empty rooms, but I think you’ll still appreciate the potential. Check out the building where this pied-à-terre is located—maybe you’ll get inspired… and purchase/design an apartment too.
The Ultimate City View – Urban Interior Design
You know what goes with big oversized windows? Big oversized window treatments, of course. We’ve got to keep our new interiors from bleaching out in the sun. Not worried about privacy here – 20th floor problems. But we’re still adding floor-to-ceiling linen Great Plains drapery panels—our favorite window look. The clean, light oak floors with zero stain and a matte finish. Apparently, it’s all the rage these days as it’s the top request from our new clients, especially for our urban interiors. This room will be a living and dining combo, flowing right into a super chic kitchen. We have a custom bench, leather dining chairs, and a custom masterpiece from Abner Henry in the dining room. In the living room, colorful Italian glass accent tables, upholstered armless chairs (in a Pierre Frey woven number) and a posh velvet lounge chair. Our Verellen sofa will be wrapped in a striped C&C Milano fabric… and we CANNOT wait for these items to arrive.
Luxury Interior Design – Custom Lighting, Wallpaper, and More
We can’t take credit for the kitchen and bath designs, but we will take credit for the finishing touches that are soon coming. There’s much more to apartment design than kitchen and bath design! Picture Roll & Hill lighting over the island, Urban Electric jewels in the corridor, and Thibaut, Christopher Farr , Zak & Fox, & Schumacher wallcoverings adding some serious style – that’s a lot of paper. And let’s not forget the ultra-posh Holly Hunt counter stools. With a kitchen this beautiful as our starting point, the final product can only get better.
From Boston to the Big Apple: Tiny Bathroom, Big Plans (and Pro Travel Tips!)
The primary bath—definitely not a bad start! Sure, New York City bathrooms are small, but we’ll find a way to pack in some luxury interior design. We are tasked with adding personality to new construction homes, and we are here for the challenge. And there I am on the right… Pro tip: If you’re making a day trip to NYC, I highly recommend Vuori joggers—perfect for the Acela ride from Boston. Joggers, runners, light layers… I’ve got the Amtrak day trip down to a science. Super excited for this new opportunity in the SECOND greatest city on earth (spoken like a true Boston girl). Stay tuned for the final reveal in Spring 2025! Contemporary interiors are in the making.
Post Script. We have worked with this client before – she is super stylish and has amazing and fun taste. We may be borrowing some art and other furnishings from her Boston home for this new project (hint, hint). Check out her Concord home, both the interiors and the exteriors of her historic New England home were featured in Boston Home Magazine, Winter 2025.
