Custom walnut cabinetry complements mid-century lighting, balanced with the addition of contemporary furnishings. A black tufted velvet sofa and olive green swivel chairs surround a sculptural coffee table. Soft white walls and monochromatic drapery frame the space, while a custom olive green animal-print shag carpet adds texture underfoot.
one of whom is an artist, recently renovated their Brookline home with a vision to blend old and new art seamlessly with contemporary furnishings, all while prioritizing comfort and livability. The project, highlighted in Boston Globe Magazine, showcases the design studio’s expertise in decorating and styling to create spaces that are both functional and visually captivating.
In the living room, a bespoke animal-print shag rug adds character, paired with new herringbone tiles surrounding the fireplace, introducing texture and pattern. The dark media room features reupholstered family heirlooms, now modernized, alongside a new sectional and custom pillows for a cozy, layered look. The family room continues the theme of blending old with new, incorporating a reupholstered vintage sofa and other furnishings in a soothing palette of neutrals and indigo.
The studio’s thoughtful integration of rich textures and fabrics—linen, cut velvet, alpaca and more—gives each room depth, while custom wool rugs bring warmth and luxury. A particularly striking detail is the shearling rug placed beneath a custom window seat, adding softness to an already inviting space. The result is a home that reflects the homeowners’ unique artistic flair and every detail has been carefully curated to create a comfortable home.
