Family room with soft grey sectional, blue chair and ottoman, mid-century coffee table, and simple lighting by a Boston area interior designer.

A formal living room with original built-ins, leaded glass, modern furniture, fun art, and simple neutral decor in a historic Concord home.

Renovating historic homes in New England is both a challenge and an art form. It requires a thoughtful balance between preserving the charm of the past and incorporating the necessities of modern living. Boston interior designer Sarah Scales on-site at a new construction beach house project on Boston’s South Shore.

Three. Whole. Years. That’s how long we’ve been planning, designing, and building our R Street new construction beach house. Our clients moved in this past May (finally!), and we’re putting the final touches on it. We just installed final art and small furniture, and finished photography is scheduled for Spring 2025. All exterior architecture designed by Owen Thomas, and all interior architectural design (and decorating) by us.
